CITY OF COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA

LAND MANAGEMENT PLAN COMMITTEE MINUTES

DATE: January 9, 2023 TIME: 6:00 PM

LOCATION: Cocoa Beach Country Club

Committee Members Present: Bob Day, Carol Kruse, Mike Robinette, Janice Scott, Kelsey Mack (Advisory)

Committee Members Absent: Holly Davis Guests: 1

A. Call to Order: Mr. Day called the meeting to order at 6:01pm

B. Committee member introductions - Each member of the committee introduced themselves and provided a brief background on

why they are interested in serving on the committee. Mr. Day also provided a detailed introduction to Land Management Committee

business for newly appointed members. Mr. Day described Land Management Plans and relevant work the committee has worked on since

its formation in 2002.

C. Approve November 21, 2022 Minutes – Ms. Kruse motioned to approve the minutes. The motion was second by Mr. Day. The

minutes were approved 4:0

D. Staff Reports – Ms. Kelsey Mack provided a brief update regarding upcoming events.

E. NEW BUSINESS

 Election of Chair and Vice Chair – Ms. Kruse motioned to appoint Bob Day to serve as Chair, Mr. Robinette seconded the

motion. The motion passed. Ms. Kruse motioned to appoint Holly Davis to serve as vice chair, Ms. Scott seconded the

motion. The motion passed.

 2023 meeting dates and times – The committee came to a consensus to continue meeting on the 2nd Monday of the month at

6:00pm.

 2023 Land Management Committee objectives – Each committee member described items they would like to see the

committee consider for future discussions in 2023. Objectives discussed by the committee included: Completion of the Beach and Dune

Management Plan, updating the North Thousand Islands Management Plan, sea turtle/wildlife lighting, and issues relating to the

health of the Indian River Lagoon.

F. OLD BUSINESS

 Beach and Dune Management Plan – The committee discussed the most recent draft of the plan. Mr. Day and Ms. Kruse

provided details on the status of the draft management plan. The committee discussed items to review for discussion at

the next meeting.

G. Committee Member Announcements: Mr. Day thanked Ms. Regan and Ms. Anderson for their service as members of the

Land Management Committee.

H. Public Comment: Marion Anderson, Cocoa Beach resident commented in regards to the McNabb Parkway roadway and living

shoreline project.

I. Next Meeting – Next regular meeting will be January February 9th, 2023 at 6:00pm
