Gregory Butcher, Applicant, was present and stated that he has two (2) old Volkswagons that he would like to park on the side of the house to free up his garage for his family’s vehicles. He explained that he could build two (2) smaller structures and have a ten (10) foot rear yard setback but he is asking for the setback variance because he wants to make just one larger building. Chairman Jim Hattaway asked the Applicant how tall the proposed building would be in comparison to the house. Mr. Butcher responded that his house is sixteen (16) feet tall, and the building would only be twelve (12) feet. Chairman Hattaway asked staff if this building being used to store vehicles would cause any issues as far as considering this another driveway. Ms. Hammel responded that he doesn’t have to have a concrete driveway, but he does need to have enough room that he would not encroach on his neighbor property. No one from the audience spoke in favor or opposition to this request. A motion was made by Carmine Bravo, seconded by Larry Wright, to approve this variance request. Carmine Bravo asked the Applicant if the structure was already in place and Mr. Scott responded yes, the structure has been there ten (10) years. Chairman Jim Hattaway stated that it has been there for ten (10) years before anyone has done anything about it. Mr. Scott explained that you can’t see it as people’s structures block it.
