Page 6 14.1. Motion to Move the Maintenance and Facilities Audit is Moved to After the Auditor General (September or October) and That the New Audit, If Needed, Will be Provided by the New Auditors, RSM Board Member Kennedy introduced Mr. Mark Smith, of Carr Riggs & Ingram, who spoke regarding a proposed change to the Scope of Work during 2024-2025 FY. Mr. James Daniel, Chairman of the Audit Committee, provided clarification regarding the Maintenance and Facility Audit (M&F Audit) and noted there was simply not enough time in the current contract, which ends June 30, 2025, for CRI to complete the audit. Vice-Chair Spray noted while the M&F Audit was included with the original engagement plan for CRI to complete during the 2024-2025 FY, she expressed concern regarding the risk of overlapping contracts and tasks with new auditors (RSM) who begin their contract July 1, 2025, and the Auditor General who is actively completing their own audit of the District. Vice-Chair Spray stated she would not approve of an extension for CRI to complete the Maintenance and Facilities audit. Rachel Sellers, Deputy Superintendent of Business Services, stated that the Auditor General will be completing the Operational audit with the plan to be completed with the topics of discussion by September. Mr. Joseph Ranaldi, Deputy Superintendent of Operations, also noted that the same employees providing information to the Attorney General’s office and RSM, are also opening new schools, rezoning the District and facilitating the construction of two additional schools; the workload on the District employees would be significant. Based on the limitation of staff in the District, it was proposed that the District wait to plan the M&F Audit until after the auditor general completes the operational audit in September. 15) ADDITIONAL PUBLIC COMMENT (IF NEEDED) 16) INFORMATION ONLY (No Board Action Required) 16.1.
