On September 9, 2024, the School Board adopted the budget for fiscal year 2024-2025. As the fiscal year progresses, we ask the School Board to amend the budget to more accurately reflect estimated revenues and appropriations. The amendments are results of various factors including: increases or decreases in estimated revenues to more accurately reflect revenues, and increases or decreases in appropriations to more accurately reflect estimated expenditures and/or better utilize funds for schools, departments, and projects. These amendments facilitate district operations to occur in a positive manner. These amendments properly reflect the estimated revenue and appropriations. Okaloosa County Schools will use the funds from this grant to supply eligible teachers with either a $500 or $1,000 bonus, depending on the certification. The District's portion of the FICA benefits will be withheld prior to payment through the regular payment process. Retirement is not applicable. For any teacher currently working at a charter school, the District will transfer the full bonus amount to the school so it can provide the bonus to its teacher(s) through the payroll process. This grant supports Florida's Strategic Plan, including the Vision: "Florida will have an efficient world-class education system that engages and prepares students to be globally competitive for colleges and careers."
