STUDENT BOARD REPORT Student Representative Board Report presented by Luke Lacy from Royal High School: “Good evening, President Pine, Clerk of the Board Smollen, Trustees James, Jubran, and Resnick … as well as Superintendent Dr. Youssef. My name is Luke Lacy, and I’m here tonight representing Royal High School. I’m so excited and honored to share the Board Report on behalf of my peers across the district. Kaitlyn Welling at Apollo High School reports… The fourth quarter is off to a great start at Apollo High School. Apollo had 7 students graduate at the end of 3rd quarter, and they have welcomed 18 new students to their Apollo Family this quarter. Congratulations to Michelle Pech, Apollo’s Student of the Month for March! Michelle has earned 140 credits since enrolling at Apollo last year and is now on track to graduate a WHOLE YEAR EARLY! Comments from Apollo’s staff about Michelle include “works hard, does everything asked of her, is always willing to help classmates and teachers, super focused, and has a genuine heart!” In the future, Michelle would like to pursue a career as a physical therapist for children, or possibly something in the childcare field. Congratulations, Michelle, your Apollo Family is so proud of you! Last night, Apollo hosted their first annual Apollo Family Night! Apollo Family Night included community resources for families, career and educational options for life after high school, meeting teachers, classroom visits, games, music, FREE FOOD, and so much more. Apollo Family Night is an opportunity for staff, students, families, and community members to come together and celebrate being an Apollo Family together. Rivka Pressman at Monte Vista reports… We are getting ready for CAASPP testing and are working hard to increase the number of students being successful with the testing. Last month they had the American Heart Association fundraiser, a great time was had by

4 all. Our students took a field trip to the Getty Museum, even in the rain they had a fabulous turn out. We are preparing for the Open House/Entrepreneur Fair. You are all invited to the event on April 26th from 9AM to 1PM. The baby chicks and turkeys have arrived! Ashley Franco at Santa Susana High School reports… This past month at Santa Susana High School has been incredibly eventful. They had their annual spring fling where the theme was Mamma Mia. There were about 300 attendees. That same day they also had their annual STEAM Expo & Health Fair. Many families attended and the children enjoyed over 50 booths that demonstrated the aspects of STEAM and Health. On Tuesday, March 18th the seniors presented their senior capstone projects in order to certify in the many pathways they have to offer. On April 5th they celebrated the senior prom where there were 250 attendees and the theme was, A Night In Athens. Seniors had an incredible time, and it will be a night to remember. Upcoming this month they have their annual International week that showcase the cultures around campus. They look forward to the last two months before summer break and can't wait for the rest of the events to come. Jordyn Pongracz at Simi Valley High School reports…First, a huge congratulations to the Auto Tech students, who captured the state championship this month! Their outstanding performance earned them more than $23,000 in scholarships along with professional-grade tools. This incredible achievement is a testament to their dedication, hard work, and technical skill. They couldn’t be prouder of the team for representing Simi High at such a high level. Simi also celebrated a milestone in the leadership class. After one of the closest elections in recent memory, our new ASB Cabinet for the 2025–2026 school year has been officially selected. Congratulations to President Angelina Dang, Vice President Julia Lopez Martinez, Secretary Aalia Syed, and Treasurer Catherine Nguyen. They are excited to see their vision and leadership help guide Simi High into another successful year. Additionally, they want to give a special shout-out to their Unified Sports team, who competed last Friday in Fillmore. Their hard work, teamwork, and positive spirit were on full display, and they are incredibly proud of their efforts. As always, the accomplishments of our students remind us why Simi High is such a vibrant and inspiring community. They look forward to seeing what their students achieve next! Finally at Royal High School … The last month at Royal High has been one of our best to date. Our spring sports are killing it with beach volleyball becoming ranked top 10 in the nation, and our baseball team holding a 14- and 3 record. We successfully held our annual special Olympic games, and our theater department put on the spring musical “Something Rotten” to great success. And perhaps the busiest of all has been our ASB council and leadership class. Starting with the return of a long-held tradition at Royal High School, The Highlander Pageant, formerly known as the Mr. Highlander pageant, we at Royal sought to refurbish this amazing tradition into a new and improved event. The event was amazing, filled with hilarious acts. In fact, I myself participated in the show, doing a ribbon dance wearing a rainbow singlet. We raised over $1300 for charity and a priceless amount of fun. We also held our Every 15 Minutes drunk driving awareness event to great success and hopefully had an impact on our student body. I know it made a big impact on me playing the drunk driver position. We learned that one bad decision can ruin your life, drinking and driving is never acceptable. As usual, we are busy and having a blast on Royal Avenue, every day truly is a GREAT DAY TO BE A HIGHLANDER. Thank you again for giving me the opportunity to share the great things happening at our high schools.” PUBLIC COMMENTS Trustee Smollen reported that there were fifteen blue cards (individuals requesting to speak to the Board) received.
