Inbody ----- NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC: Public comments will be made in person in Board Chambers during the Board of Education meeting at the Fontana Unified School District Administration Building #1 Conference Room, located at 9680 Citrus Avenue, Fontana CA 92335. Please arrive prior to 4:30 p.m. if you would like to speak on agenda items. Public comments are limited to agenda items only (Board Bylaw 9323; Gov't Code 54954.3(a)). The Board shall limit the total time for public input on each item to 20 minutes. With Board consent, the President may increase or decrease the time allowed for public presentation, depending on the topic and the number of persons wishing to be heard (Board Bylaw 9323). Members of the public are cautioned not to approach the dais or any Board Member during the meeting or while making a public comment, and to remain behind the podium while speaking. Speakers are encouraged to contact the District's administrative office and use established complaint procedures if they wish to have any complaint investigated and addressed. Members of the public are further cautioned to refrain from the use of profanity, threats, or any comments or actions that actually disrupt, disturb, impede, or render infeasible the orderly conduct of the meeting. ---- Comments and particular viewpoints expressed by members of the public during public comment are the statements and viewpoints of those users and do not necessarily reflect or represent the views of the Board or District. ---- Individuals who require disability-related accommodations or modifications, including auxiliary aids and services, in order to participate in the Board meeting should contact the Superintendent or designee in writing at least two days before the meeting date. Call to Order, Open Session, 4:30 p.m. Type Discussion/Action Recommended Action Conduct interviews and select a Student Board Member to serve during the 2025-26 school year. BACKGROUND : Students who were Juniors at Fontana Unified's seven high schools during the 2024-25 school year were invited to submit applications if they were interested in serving as the District's Student Board Member representative during the 2025-26 school year. Students completed an application, submitted an essay explaining why they are interested in serving as the Student Board Member, and submitted two letters of recommendation. An application was received from five comprehensive high schools. The students’ applications were provided to the Board of Education prior to the scheduled interviews. Information regarding the students’ schools was redacted from the applications to provide a fair screening and interview process. Students were guided not to provide information regarding their current school during the interview, as they will be representing not only their school but all students of Fontana Unified School District. Individual speakers will be allowed three (3) minutes to address the Board. For Special meetings of the Board, public comments are limited to agenda items only. Pursuant to Education Code section 7054, the public comment process shall not be used to show support or opposition for any ballot measure or candidate for political office, including candidates for the District’s Board of Education. Government Code Section 54954.2 prohibits the Governing Board from discussing or acting on any matter that is not on the published agenda. BACKGROUND : With respect to providing clarity of job duties and responsibilities, it is necessary to update the existing job descriptions as they have not been reviewed and/or modified for a significant period of time. These revisions reflect the changes that have occurred in the ever-evolving needs of the District and the requirements of each position as outlined. They also represent a change in focus. The job descriptions define the duties, education, experience, knowledge and abilities, and the standard requirements of the positions. The related duties providing support in these areas are significant and warrant periodic analysis for realignment.
