The Petitioner, Elizabeth Gale West, was present. This is a an application for Real Property Value. This property is located at 4980 SW County Road 769. The Property Appraiser testified and provided the Board with written evidence in the form of a packet; which evidence was admitted by the Board. Mr. Williams stated this is an application for Real Property Value and he explained how he came to the value. The issue is that Ms. West has moved her homestead along with her Save Our Home discount to a home in Port Charlotte. This move caused her to lose the Save Our Home Discount on the property located in DeSoto County due to being allowed one homestead. Ms. West presented her case and stated she was unable to sale the property due to the issue with the legal description and requested that after the property boundary is determined and she is able to sell the property she would then pay the taxes. After discussion regarding property boundaries and surveyors, Dr. Goodman stated their hands were tied regarding the value of this property due to the loss of the Homestead Exemption. Dr. Goodman made a motion to deny the petition, seconded by Commissioner Gross. The motion carried unanimously.
