Rationale : The State Board of Education (SBE) requires districts to adopt standards-based materials approved by the SBE and local Board of Education in order to use state textbook funds. Educational Services develops guidelines, procedures, and criteria to ensure that instructional materials, books, and equipment recommended to the Board for adoption will meet the requirements of the legislature, the SBE, instructional staff, and the instructional needs of students. Site and District personnel, along with grade level curriculum committees, work collaboratively in the selection process to recommend books, instructional materials and library resources for adoption. In a comprehensive process coordinated by the Division of Educational Services, District teachers annually review instructional resources and make recommendations to the District Curriculum Council. The District Curriculum Council, in turn, reviews and forwards the recommendations to the Board for consideration and approval in accordance with Board Policy 6161.1 Procedures and Criteria for Selection and Evaluation . Rationale : Upon receiving notification from the state of any school served by the local educational agency (LEA) that is identified for Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI), the LEA shall, for each school identified by the state and in collaboration with educational partners (including principals and other school leaders, teachers, parents, and family members), locally develop and implement a CSI plan for the school to improve student outcomes. Per the California Department of Education (CDE), CSI plans for the 2024-25 school year must be fully developed and approved at the local level and ready to be implemented no later than the first day of the 2024-25 school year. The School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) may serve as the school improvement plan required under federal law for schools identified for CSI, as long as the SPSA also meets the federal requirements of such plans. Each site identified for CSI has revised its 2024 SPSA to meet the requirements of a CSI plan and with the review, certification, and advice of applicable educational partners and approval by each school's School Site Council. Each revised SPSA must have Board approval to authorize CSI expenditures proposed in the plans. A copy of each school's SPSA is available for review in the Educational Services Office. Educational Services Subject 4.03 Educator Effectiveness Block Grant Plan Meeting Jul 31, 2024 - Regular Board Meeting Type Information Educator Effectiveness Block Grant Plan Summary for Board Information As a condition of receiving Educator Effectiveness Block Grant funds, our district was required to adopt a plan delineating how the Educator Effectiveness funds would be spent including the professional development of teachers, administrators, paraprofessionals, and classified staff. Pomona Unified School District adopted the Educator Effectiveness Block Grant (EEBG) Plan in December 2021 and updated in July 2023. Since it was last updated, the EEBG Committee, consisting of leadership and staff member representatives from APT, CSEA and Educational Services, met to review the EEBG Plan, assess the current professional development needs of staff, and revise the EEBG Plan’s proposed activities and budgeted expenditures. The updated EEBG Plan reflects the current needs of staff based on feedback from the EEBG Committee and other educational partners. Funds may be expended for the purposes identified in Assembly Bill 130, Chapter 44, Section 22. These expenditures may take place over fiscal years 2021-22, 2022-23, 2023-24, 2024-25, and 2025-26. The updates presented today were a result of collaboration with the bargaining units and other educational partners. Educator Effectiveness Block Grant (EEBG) Plan File Attachments 4.
