Support Services (Consent) Subject 12.1 Builders Risk Policy Renewal 2023/2024 Meeting Oct 17, 2023 - School Board Meeting (6:00 PM) Type Action (Consent) Recommended Action Motion to approve Builders Risk Policy Renewal 2023/2024 Builder's Risk Insurance is a type of property insurance coverage normally purchased by the owner of a building while it is under construction. This insurance will cover the replacement costs for the structure, as well as the materials and contents stored within the building, resulting from fire, wind damage, theft and vandalism. The District secures Builder's Risk Insurance on all major capital projects either by way of the District's property and liability insurer or through the contractor, when necessary. For the past eight years working with the Public Risk Insurance Agency (Brown and Brown), the District has been able to secure a favorable rate structure for Builder’s Risk Insurance on all our projects, regardless of contract duration or contract sum. Our rate varied between $.02 and $.034 per $100.00 of insured value depending on the method of construction. This rate structure represented savings to the District in comparison to coverage obtained by the Contractor. Attached is the policy renewal document. Subject to Board Approval, the annual premium deposit of $10,170.00 will be applied to any projects we initiate with a cost under $20,000,000.
