(Mr. Roach) Meeting Sep 16, 2026 - In-Person/Virtual Special Board of Education Meeting Type Discussion Recommendation : Conduct interviews of applicants to serve as the Board of Education's appointee to the Personnel Commission for a three-year term, and announce intended appointee as named by the Board of Education. Analysis : The term of Mr. Andrew Tse, the Board of Education's current appointee to the Personnel Commission, will end of December 1, 2026. At the Regular meeting on August 20, 2026, the consensus of the Board was to conduct an application process for those interested in serving on the Personnel Commission. Per Personnel Commission Rule 2.1.2 procedures, the Board of Education shall first announce publicly, the name of its intended appointee. After 30 days and within 45 days of the date the Board publicly announces its candidate, the Board must conduct a public hearing regarding the candidate. The Board can make its appointment following the public hearing, either at the same Board Meeting or at a later meeting prior to September 30. If the Board announces its intended appointee at this Special Board Meeting of September 16, 2026, a public hearing and the action to appoint must be made at the November 5, 2026, Regular Board of Education meeting.
