Workshops Type Wallace Knight, Policy Director Approval to advertise New Policy 7540.08 – Artificial Intelligence (AI) Shane Syfrett, Assistant Superintendent Lewis Blessing, Director Questions from LCSB Vice Chair Nicolas: What specific objectives does the District aim to achieve related to the integration of AI technology? Similar to how explicit the academic honesty lists examples of what constitutes as academic dishonesty, I think a list of specific objectives would serve this policy very well. How will the District measure or assess the effectiveness of the AI tool(s), which could help the Board in its understanding this policy's success? While this policy gives our teachers discretion in allowing AI use, it does not provide clear guidelines (guardrails) on how teachers should make AI use decisions, which could lead to inconsistencies. Will there be an administrative procedure that accompanies this policy? While the policy acknowledges that those who violate the AI policy may be subjected to disciplinary consequences, could this policy use clarity around what constitutes as a violation? Or would that be in an administrative procedure as well?
