What This Bill Would Do
House Bill 1693 allows owners of eligible to choose permanent registration by paying seven times the annual fee upfront and submitting required documentation. The permanent registration plates and fees are vehicle-specific, nontransferable, and nonrefundable, and vehicle title transfers cancel the registration and require returning the license plates.
Vehicle owners gain the option to eliminate annual registration renewals by paying a seven-year equivalent fee upfront, while title transfers will require surrendering the plates because the permanent status is strictly tied to a single vehicle.
