What This Bill Proposed
House Bill 746 eliminates the statutory requirement limiting counties to receiving funding for no more than eight rounds under the Rural Fire Truck Acquisition Assistance Program in order to qualify for additional matching assistance. The measure amends Section 17-23-1 of the Mississippi Code of 1972.
Counties that have previously received eight rounds of fire truck grants are newly eligible to apply for further state matching assistance without hitting the prior statutory participation ceiling.
