What This Bill Does

Utah law now penalizes individuals who contact 911 knowing no emergency exists after being previously warned, and increases penalties for repeat offenses or false reports that delay emergency services and cause injury, death, or financial loss.

Why it matters

Repeat or baseless 911 calls can divert emergency resources away from actual crises, risking public safety and imposing financial burdens on government agencies and private entities that must respond.

Who It Affects

Groups the bill's text affects, as described in the record. Being affected is not a position for or against it.
