What This Bill Would Do
New Jersey authorizes the Motor Vehicle Commission to issue special U.S. Navy Veteran license plates bearing the words 'U.S. Navy Retired' and Navy insignia for a $50 initial application fee and a $10 annual renewal fee. Funds collected beyond administrative costs will be deposited into a dedicated fund to support Navy veteran programs, provided initial non-public funding and a minimum of 500 completed applications are secured.
Qualifying Navy veterans may obtain specialty license plates by paying additional registration fees, while funds raised above administrative costs are directed toward programs supporting state veterans.
