What This Bill Would Do
Pennsylvania requires the Department of Labor and Industry to create and update annual code compliance notices for county sheriffs to distribute to property purchasers. County sheriffs must provide these notices to purchasers, post them on their public websites, display them at sale locations, and make them available to prospective buyers. The requirements take effect in 120 days for the department, with sheriff distribution duties starting in 151 days.
Property buyers at sheriff sales receive direct guidance on local building codes, zoning rules, and municipal contacts before starting construction or renovations.
