What This Bill Would Do
Beginning in the 2026-2027 school year, Pennsylvania public school entities must adopt and post policies for notifying parents or legal guardians when a student threatens suicide or is involved in bullying. Schools must also provide families with suicide prevention materials, maintain confidential notification records, and give students the right to request or these records after graduation.
The measure establishes mandatory communication protocols between schools and families regarding severe behavioral and mental health incidents, impacting administrative reporting practices and family access to student safety records.
