What This Bill Proposed
Missouri House Bill 2549 prohibits the conservation commission from requiring landowners to register property to receive hunting permits or to possess a permit to take wildlife on their own land. It requires the commission to issue permits to landowners owning at least five acres and allows them to request a free two-day permit once per calendar year for a nonresident immediate family member.
Qualifying landowners gain the legal right to take wildlife on their own property without purchasing or possessing a permit or registering their real estate with the state. The measure removes existing or future property registration rules enforced by the conservation commission.
