This mural has been placed in the lobby of the Art Coleman Administrative Building. It is a reminder of the endless possibilities that we as a education community offer our students if we just "Imagine the Possibilities." Meeting Mar 11, 2025 - March 11, 2025 Regular Board Meeting - - 4:00 P.M. (IN-PERSON) Category 1. CALL MEETING TO ORDER Type Information (2 min.) This collaborative artwork celebrates the personal development of us as an educational community through the metaphor of a vibrant nurturing environment of learning. As a way of including the SUSD Community into the mural, SUSD employees in attendance were asked to draw something that could be incorporated into this mural to symbolize their collective effort that takes place each day here in the landscape of the Stockton Unified School District. We would like to take some time to honor these Artists. ANALYSIS SUSD Visual Art teachers, Temo Moreno, Ligia Ciotau, and Luz Lua, are the Artists that have created the "SUSD Onward"- "Imagine the Possibilities" mural that is hanging in the lobby of the Art Coleman Administrative Building. The hope is that as our SUSD Community looks at this mural, they will remember that each of us are a part of this educational "landscape" we call the Stockton Unified School District. We all need to "Imagine the Possibilities" that we can create for our SUSD students as they move through our Pre-school-12th grad educational landscape. Let's make these possibilities endless. INTRODUCTION Weber Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology recognizes the importance of students participating in activities and events that expose them to career choices within their field of interest. Weber Institute currently provides courses in computer technology such as; coding, webpage design, and digital art. Weber also provides diverse levels in studio art such as; Art 33A/33B (dual enrollment college courses), Art 1, Art 2Honors, and Art 3Honors. Currently many of these students wish to pursue or learn more about opportunities provided by local universities or institutions that focus on technology and the arts. By attending this fieldtrip to the Academy of Art University and SFMOMA students become aware and are exposed to a variety of current educational programs and current practicing artists. Students will have a guided tour of the university programs and facilities, plus they will also have a docent guided museum tour at the SFMOMA. ANALYSIS The trip is being coordinated and supervised by a 30+ veteran art teacher for SUSD (Stockton Unified School District), Delta College (Dual Enrollment Program) Art Instructor, and practicing local artist. Funding is provided by the LCAP College and Career Readiness 1.2 (SA11.15). As an art educator that has students from different academies at Weber Institute, I notice the need to help students see the possibilities in different fields of study that incorporate technology and the arts. Most students cannot visualize how taking an art course, digital arts, webpage, or coding class can become a future career or area of continual study. The Academy of Art University and SFMOMA both provide an awareness of potential career pathways to their future.
