Student Success (Increase Student Achievement via Student Centered Instruction) BACKGROUND The District is seeking to expand its digital learning and creative media resources to better support student engagement, career-connected learning, and 21st-century skill development. Character Creator 5 Deluxe is a professional-level digital creation platform that allows students to design, animate, and customize realistic 3D characters for use in multimedia courses such as digital art, graphic design, animation, game design, and career and technical education (CTE) pathways. With growing student interest in digital arts and the increasing relevance of 3D modeling and animation in modern industries—including gaming, film, marketing, engineering visualization, and virtual production—staff identified the need for up-to-date tools that reflect current industry standards. Several teachers piloted earlier versions of the software and reported high usability, strong student engagement, and seamless integration into existing project-based learning units. ANALYSIS A review team evaluated Character Creator 5 Deluxe for instructional alignment, accessibility, and technical requirements. The team found that the software offers robust features that support both introductory and advanced coursework, including user-friendly modeling tools, pre-built templates, real-time rendering, and compatibility with other district-approved 3D and game development platforms. The software’s intuitive interface reduces teacher preparation time and allows students of varying skill levels to produce high-quality work quickly. In addition, the Deluxe version provides expanded asset libraries, additional animation capabilities, and more customization options than standard editions, giving students greater creative flexibility. The program also supports export options that align with industry workflows, enabling students to develop portfolios suitable for internships, competitions, or postsecondary applications. After comparing several creation tools, the review team determined that Character Creator 5 Deluxe offered the strongest balance of instructional value, professional relevance, and ease of implementation. STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT IMPACT The adoption of Character Creator 5 Deluxe is expected to enhance student achievement across multiple indicators, particularly in CTE and digital media pathways. Students will gain hands-on experience with industry-standard tools that strengthen technical proficiency, problem-solving skills, creativity, and digital literacy. These competencies contribute to improved performance in project-based assessments, higher-quality student portfolios, and increased readiness for careers and postsecondary programs in animation, design, digital arts, and related fields. The software supports collaborative learning, critical thinking, and iterative design—core skills associated with stronger academic outcomes. Additionally, providing students with professional-level tools has been shown to improve course engagement, increase persistence in advanced CTE sequences, and expand opportunities for industry certifications or competition-based recognition. Progress will be measured through student project evaluations, course completion data, portfolio reviews, and teacher feedback. Effective November 19, 2025 through June 30, 2030. Goals 1. Student Success (Increase Student Achievement via Student Centered Instruction) BACKGROUND The District has been offered an ongoing donation from Intuit , a global leader in financial technology and business software. This donation includes monetary funding, free access to Intuit’s educational tools, financial literacy resources, and small-business simulation platforms designed for K–12 learning environments. Intuit has a long-standing commitment to supporting financial empowerment and workforce readiness in schools across the country. The donation aligns with the District’s strategic goals to enhance financial literacy, expand real-world learning opportunities, and support Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways in fields such as culinary arts, entrepreneurship, and personal finance. The ongoing nature of the agreement ensures sustained access to resources without additional cost to the District. ANALYSIS District staff reviewed the donation agreement to assess program alignment, data privacy standards, and instructional impact. Their analysis found that Intuit’s suite of tools—including financial planning modules, budgeting simulations, tax preparation practice environments, and small-business management activities—supports both state standards and district learning objectives. The review team determined that the ongoing donation presents a high-value, low-cost opportunity for strengthening financial and career readiness instruction throughout the District. STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT IMPACT The ongoing donation from Intuit is expected to positively influence student achievement by improving financial literacy, strengthening problem-solving skills, and enhancing students’ readiness for college, career, and adult life. Access to real-world financial tools enables students to practice budgeting, saving, tax preparation, entrepreneurship, and business decision-making in authentic, hands-on environments. These experiences deepen understanding of key economic concepts and help students build confidence in managing personal finances—an essential life skill linked to postsecondary success. In CTE pathways, Intuit’s resources support the development of industry-relevant competencies that can lead to improved course completion, and stronger student portfolios. Teacher feedback from the use of initial donations indicates that students are more engaged when learning is tied to real-world applications, suggesting that the Intuit donation will contribute to improved classroom participation, skill mastery, and long-term readiness. Progress will be monitored through CTE program indicators, classroom data, and feedback gathered from educators. (CTE/ROP & Partnerships Department) (Educational Services) ***APPROVED*** Meeting Nov 18, 2025 - Regional Occupational Program (ROP) Meeting Type Action (Consent) Fiscal Impact Yes Dollar Amount $27,825.00 Budgeted Yes Budget Source CTEIG Grant Recommended Action The Superintendent recommends that the Board of Trustees approve the Software Agreement with Ableton Inc., effective November 19, 2025 through June 30, 2026. Goals 1. Student Success (Increase Student Achievement via Student Centered Instruction) BACKGROUND The District is committed to expanding high-quality Career and Technical Education (CTE) experiences that prepare students for emerging careers in the music, media, and entertainment industries. The high school Audio Production Pathway currently provides instruction in digital recording, sound design, mixing, and live audio engineering; however, students require access to industry-standard tools to fully participate in hands-on, career-connected learning. Ableton Live , a widely used digital audio workstation (DAW) in professional music production, performance, and sound design, has been identified by pathway instructors as the most suitable software for supporting advanced instruction. The addition of Ableton Live will modernize classroom technology, enhance project-based learning, and align pathway resources with current industry practices. ANALYSIS A review was conducted by CTE leadership and audio production instructors to evaluate software options, compatibility, and program needs. Ableton Live was compared with other DAWs such as Logic Pro, Pro Tools, and FL Studio. The team determined that Ableton Live offers the most flexible workflow for both beginners and advanced students, particularly due to its session view composition tools, real-time music creation capabilities, and extensive library of instruments and sound packs. Instructors noted that Ableton Live’s interface is intuitive and supports efficient instruction, allowing students to quickly engage in beat-making, mixing, arrangement, and live performance activities. The software is fully compatible with existing computers and hardware in the audio production labs, minimizing additional equipment costs. Furthermore, Ableton’s education licensing offers significant discounts and includes training resources for both teachers and students, easing implementation. After completing the evaluation, the review team recommended the adoption of Ableton Live as a primary software for the Audio Production Pathway. STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT IMPACT The purchase of Ableton Live is expected to significantly improve instructional quality and student achievement within the Audio Production Pathway. Students will gain hands-on experience with industry-standard tools used by professional producers, engineers, and artists, increasing both skill proficiency and postsecondary readiness. Exposure to professional workflows enhances students’ creativity, technical accuracy, and problem-solving abilities—skills directly transferable to careers in audio engineering, digital media, music technology, and sound production. The use of Ableton Live supports project-based learning, enabling students to produce high-quality recordings, remixes, and original compositions that can be showcased in portfolios, competitions, and college applications. Additionally, access to modern music production tools has been shown to improve student engagement, persistence in CTE sequences, and enrollment in advanced-level pathway courses. Implementation of Ableton Live is expected to increase pathway completion rates, expand opportunities for certifications or performance assessments, and prepare students for internships, studio work, or further study in music production programs. Student progress will be measured through project rubrics, performance assessments, course completion data, and teacher evaluations.
